The pioneering Jagriti season kicks off with a contemporary, localised take on Aristophanes’ well-known two-and-a-half-thousand-year-old play. Highlighting the farcical tone of the play and offering satiric commentary of pertinent issues such as war, sex and society in modern-day India, Jeff Teare’s production of Lysistrata translates this Greek comedy into an interesting and relevant one for modern Indian audiences.
