Nitin Sawhney, UK-based producer, songwriter, orchestral composer and multi-instrumentalist, will perform in India for the first time this February. He tours India to support the release of his new album Last Days of Meaning. The work is inspired from his friendship with the legendary John Hurt of the BBC series ‘The Human Planet’. Played by Hurt, the record’s main character, Donald Meaning, is an embittered old Dickensian man, fearful or immigrants, terrorists and the outside world. He sits in a room raging against childhood memories, society, himself and a small tape recorder sent to him by his ex-wife (the cassette-recorder contains the songs of the album).
Nitin Sawhney Concert, 7 February, Blue Frog, Mathuradas
Mills Compound, NM Joshi Marg, Lower Parel, Mumbai.
