In an age of incremental advances towards societies run on clean energy, the Taiwanese are getting creative. The Taipei mortuary Services Office recently began using heat from its incineration ovens to run an electricity generator for the crematory office's air-conditioning, lighting and café. In Taiwan, where the majority religion is Buddhism and burial space is low, cremation, the most accepted tribute to the dead, could also be a new source of energy.
