Gati Pravah (Dance)

01 August, 2013

Gati Pravah is a collage of kathak compositions presented by the accomplished dancers of Kumudini Lakhia’s Kadamb Dance Centre for the National Centre for the Performing Arts’s August Dance Residency. Choreographed by Lakhia and with music composed by Atul Desai, the programme commences with a piece based on the movement structure of nritta (pure dance), abstract in form. The second item depicts the love of Radha and Krishna with the emphasis on the abhinaya, or expression, of the dancer. This is followed by a dance piece that was specially choreographed to celebrate the fiftieth year of India’s independence.
