The Kitchen (Theatre)

01 August, 2013

Roysten Abel’s new play The Kitchen, premiering this August, explores our relationship with food. Historically, there exists an intimate relationship between food and spirituality. The ritual of cooking is revived with a woman and man preparing a meal together. In the play, each spice evokes different emotions. The cooking is accompanied with the haunting music of the twelve mizhavu drummers, taking us on a sensory journey of sight, sound, smell, taste and emotion.
