The Water Station

Elections 2024
01 November, 2011

Sankar Venkateswaran, the founder of Theatre Roots and Wings Kerala, directs Japanese playwright Shogo Ohta’s play, The Water Station. This two-hour non-verbal play depicts loneliness, the need for sustenance and the fragility of love, and is enacted in the tradition of the ‘Theatre of Silence’, visualised by playwright Ohta as being “designed not to exalt human beings to some mystical height, but rather to root them in the fact of ‘being there’”. The performance is a joint collaboration between Theatre Roots and Wings, and the Japan Foundation.
