Edited by Kumkum Sangari
This is a collection of essays by the critics Kumkum Sangari, Gayatri Sinha and Nancy Adajania, exploring the work of the contemporary artist Sheba Chhachhi. The three writers discuss the modes of address Chhachhi employs in her art, which uses media including photography, video and three-dimensional installation. Alongside these essays are reproductions of some of her art, organised not by chronology but by themes that repeatedly crop up in her work. Chhachhi’s ouevre lends itself to this approach; her installations, in particular, convey a sense of the recursive by often returning to and reworking a set of images and concepts.
