 Taslima Nasrin

Taslima Nasrin, a Bangladeshi writer and critic of fundamentalism, has been exiled from her home country since 1994, after the publication of her controversial novel Lajja. In 2008, West Bengal’s Left Front government decided to drive her out of Kolkata, where she was living at the time. Over the next seven months she was hurriedly shifted around, first to Jaipur and then to Delhi. Then, facing incessant pressure from senior officials and politicians, she had to leave the country. Exile is a moving chronicle of Nasrin’s struggles in India over those months.
