14 TO 18 OCTOBER
NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF DESIGN, AHMEDABAD
This biennial animation festival celebrated the world of moving images. In addition to a student short-film competition, whose screenings occurred in daily installments, participants could join presentations and workshops hosted by experts from all over the world. Memorable presenters included Mohammed Ghazala from Egypt, who gave a retrospective talk on African animation; Maral Mohamedian from Canada, who delivered a centenary tribute to the animator Norman McLaren; and Rafiqun Nabi from Bangladesh, who spoke about his creation of the street-urchin character Tokai, perhaps the country’s most loved cartoon figure.
