Episode 6: Vishnu Sharma in conversation with Akshaya Mukul on Agyeya. The author Akshaya Mukul discusses his new book, “Writer, Rebel, Soldier, Lover: The Many Lives of Agyeya,” on the life of Sachchidanand Hirananda Vatsyayan “Agyeya,” a remarkable figure in Hindi literature. “A certain Indianness bordering on Hinduness—he was in search of that,” Mukul says of Agyeya. “But to equate that quest with Hindutva politics all over the country ... He would never have supported it.” Mukul also discusses the world of twentieth-century Hindi literature. “In Hindi, many new authors, lyricists, poets, poetesses are coming through,” he says. “But it isn't the same as the age of Hindi literature that had existed.”
